Cruising on the Wonder of the Seas

There’s a master suite, separate living and dining area and a wet bar that is perfect for hosting cocktails and horsdeovers in your suite. There’s also the option to make it a Grand Wintergarden and have two bedrooms. Tara had a Penthouse Suite which has a separate bedroom area that can be closed off and a smaller living and dining room area, still with plenty of space. Both suites come with your own Nespresso machine (for me that’s a HUGE bonus), Molton Brown bath products, huge walk in closets, large 5 piece bathrooms (Wintergarden comes with a 2 person Jacuzzi tub and Penthouse comes with a large soaker Jacuzzi tub), and the standard Seabourn preference options in your fully stocked mini bar.

This ship has plenty to offer for charters. We all know how hard it is to host your entire group in one single space and this ship has multiple options. You can have a deck party up by the pool, the Grand Salon offers seating where one could do presentations and award ceremonies for everyone at the same time, and the dining room can hold the entire ship at one seating. Not too shabby! 3 venues that can hold the entire ship.

Cocktail party wise there are multiple options as well. Observation Bar on the 10th floor at the front of the ship offers a spectacular view, a beautiful white grand piano, and is a beautiful private venue for parties. The Club is where they have live music in the evening with a stage and plenty of seating. Outdoor wise there is an outdoor area behind the club with a small pool and also a large area on the bow that hosts the most spectacular sunset cocktail parties.

For those that don’t know me well, I am a HUGE foodie. I can honestly say there wasn’t a single meal on this cruise that wasn’t absolutely delicious. Thomas Keller has joined Seabourn to offer a joint venture sure to please your most discerning food critics. The Grill is Thomas Keller’s baby. The entire menu and ingredients are hand selected by his team to create a superb experience at no extra cost! The Colonnade is the buffet options for breakfast and lunch and turns into a themed restaurant in the evenings. Some evenings are Thomas Keller specialties where everything is served family style and it’s a set menu. Other nights there is a theme (Italian, Mediterranean, etc.) with several dishes to choose from for each course. My favorite spot was to sit outside the Colonnade and you got a great al fresco dinning option. Earth and Ocean uses the space that The Grill does during the day and turns into another al fresco dining option. Admittedly we did not get a chance to try it however our host (whom we trust immensely) swears it is his absolute favorite dining option on the ship.

Seabourn also has two signature events while on board. Their Signature Caviar in the Surf event is phenomenal. They rent out a beach club and do the traditional beach side BBQ complete with grilled lobster, then serve champagne and caviar from a surfboard in the water. There are also a DJ and complimentary water sports available. This event can be customized to your liking but even as is, it’s a great WOW event for your clients. The second event is the Epicurean Night. They set up multiple stations around the pool deck with various themes and the officers serve the guests. They introduce the entire ship staff and finish it off with a spectacular live music performance. Do this event in the right setting (think overlooking Dubrovnik) and it’s a show stopper.

Needless to say we were extremely impressed with Seabourn. The Odyssey was going into dry dock the week after we sailed to give her a fresh look. Contact us to find out about other Seabourn ships and stay tuned for her new expedition ships launching soon.
