Position overview

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is looking for a highly motivated pharmacist to join our critical care team to provide pharmacy services for patients in the 24-bed neurocritical care unit (NCCU). We offer a unique practice model where pharmacists are credentialed and privileged which allows them to practice at the top of their license in close coordination with our providers.

Specific patient care responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Rounding with one of our two neurocritical care teams

• Assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy

• Patient medication profile review for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, and drug allergy interactions

• Optimization patients’ medication therapy regimens in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses.

Beyond providing direct patient care, the neurocritical care pharmacist will assume leadership roles in identifying evidence-based opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes, participate in appropriate hospital and departmental committees relevant to the practice area and act as a resource to provide answers to drug information questions specific to neurocritical care across the healthcare enterprise.

This position is responsible for precepting PharmD students, PGY1, and PGY2 pharmacy residents, student teaching as applicable in the P3 pharmacotherapy course and critical care elective, and providing educational programs for hospital staff including providers, nurses, medical students and residents, and neurocritical fellows.

Required Qualifications:
PharmD, Registered pharmacist in the State of Ohio; board-certified (BCPS, BCCCP), and PGY1/PGY2 residency, and/or equivalent experience
