TUI has cancelled all flights from England and Wales from Thursday 5th November.
The news comes after England is set to go into a second lockdown from the same date – and this will include a ban on international travel.
Meanwhile, anyone living in Wales currently is not allowed to travel abroad unless it’s for a ‘reasonable excuse’ (a holiday won’t count).
In a statement on its website, TUI explained that it will not operate any flights or holidays departing from England or Wales until the 2nd December 2020, when the England lockdown is currently expected to end.
The company said that all affected customers will be contacted and offered options including a booking incentive to amend their holiday, an ATOL-protected refund credit note with a booking incentive, or to cancel and receive a full cash refund.
TUI has cancelled all flights from England and Wales during lockdown
Under the new lockdown restrictions, the government has banned holidays abroad, as well as overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences in England (you can get the full details on the government website).
There isn’t a ban on international travel for those living in Scotland, although residents are being urged to avoid booking a holiday as travel restrictions could change with little notice, including rules for quarantine.
Full TUI statement
“Following the UK Government’s recent announcement regarding additional restrictions, TUI UK will not operate flights and holidays departing from England and Wales from Thursday 5 November up to and including Wednesday 2 December 2020.
“Impacted customers will be proactively contacted, in departure date order, and offered the option to amend with a booking incentive, receive an ATOL-protected refund credit note with a booking incentive, or cancel and receive a full cash refund.
“All TUI holidays between Monday 2 November and Wednesday 4 November are due to operate as planned. Customers due to travel before Thursday are able to amend their holiday to a later date for free. Customers currently on holiday can continue to enjoy their holiday as planned.
“As the current regulations have been implemented in England and Wales only, all holidays departing from Scotland will continue to operate as planned, unless customers are proactively contacted and told otherwise.
“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding.”
