Hi tuhitu: The short answer to your question is *no* – you do not need to be a U.S. citizen to take the test for a customs broker license. However, you *do* need to be a U.S. citizen to apply for your license once you have successfully passed the exam. Sources: Becoming a Broker and Maintaining a License and Contact Information URL: http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/xp/cgov/import/broker_management/brokers.xml Quote: “To apply for a customs broker license, a person must be a United States citizen who is not an employee of the federal government. The applicant must be of good moral character, at least 21 years of age, and must have attained a passing score on the comprehensive broker license examination.” Frequently Asked Questions About the Customs Broker Test and Our Training Classes URL: http://www.logisticsts.com/faqs/index.html Quote: “Anyone can take the course and sit for the exam. However to apply for your Customs Brokers license, you must score a minimum of 75% on the exam, be at least 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States. You cannot be an officer or employee of the United States Government – this includes the US military and the United States Post Office. You will have three years after you take and pass the test to apply for the license. For example: You are 20 years old and not a citizen of the United States, but you know that you will be getting your citizenship within three years, so you sit for the test. After you pass the test, you will not be able to apply for your license until you become 21 years old and become a citizen of the United States. Once you have your license, it is valid in all 50 States and Puerto Rico. ” I hope this information helps! websearcher-ga Search Strategy (on Google): “custom broker” license “customs broker” license site:.gov
